Kunita Family’s Shibazakura

A Breathtaking Sight: Like a Carpet of Flowers

Though located at a private residence, the Kunita family's shibazakura moss phlox garden is famously one of Gujo City's premier flower viewing destinations.
Visitors flock to see the stunning hillside carpeted in pink, white, and pale purple blooms.
Ms. Kanae Kunita began planting the garden around 1961, steadily expanding it over the years. Her daughter and son-in-law inherited her work and have lovingly maintained it for two decades. The husband has also thoughtfully added features to make the visit more pleasant, such as paths with handrails, a water mirror effect using the rice paddy, and the Musashi observation deck (634 m).
