Meiho Historical and Folklore Museum.

A Trip Back Through Time: From Prehistory to the Showa Era

Housed in the old wooden building of a former elementary school, the museum displays tools for daily life from past eras, commercial and industrial equipment, toys, war-related artifacts, minerals, currency, stone tools, and more. The collection totals approximately 47,000 items, including an impressive number – about 3,500 – designated as National Important Tangible Folk Cultural Properties. Highlights include an unopened safe featured on a popular TV show, Japan's oldest round mailbox, tools from the founding days of Meiho ham, and a fully recreated traditional kitchen. These items offer a tangible connection to the lives and thoughts of the people who came before us. Staff members are available to provide guided tours and explanations upon request.
