Born in 1951, Meiho Ham has grown to produce around one million units annually and is now one of Gifu Prefecture’s most beloved specialties, enjoyed by people both inside and outside the region. Carrying on the craftsmanship spirit of Meiho Ham, the area continues to develop new specialty products. Meiho Tomato Ketchup and Meiho Keichan (marinated chicken) are long-time classics. Meiho Ham

Meiho’s soul food!
Meiho Keichan
“Keichan” is a local specialty of Gifu Prefecture, made by marinating chicken in a miso- or soy sauce-based sauce and stir-frying it with vegetables. In Gujo City’s Meiho area, it has been eaten since around the 1950s. Today, about 10 restaurants serve it, and around 16 packaged products are available.

“Meiho Gibier,” produced by the Gibier Workshop Meiho, is certified as “Gifu Gibier” by Gifu Prefecture. Meiho Gibier is tender, free of gaminess, and delivers both “safety and peace of mind” as well as “delicious flavor.” It’s also highly regarded by professional chefs.

The first doburoku from the Meiho area!
Meiho Doburoku Mizusawa Kamigaike
In 2019, the special doburoku zone was expanded to include all of Gujo City, and this became the very first doburoku brewed after the expansion! Made with homegrown Koshihikari rice and underground water from the uppermost stream of the Yoshida River, it offers a dry yet fruity flavor.
